Based in Asheville, North Carolina, Loblolly Press is a small, independent press, publishing poetry, short fiction, & novels from new and established writers, primarily from the South.
Loblolly Press is seeking submissions that embody a profound sense of place, particularly focusing on the Southern and Appalachian regions. We encourage writers to embrace the bold and distinct characteristics of the region, drawing inspiration from the natural world that surrounds them. Preferably, submissions will convey a strong and unique relationship with the landscape. As a Press based in Asheville, NC, we prioritize writers and submissions from Asheville and the surrounding area. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept submissions from writers living outside of the United States.
At Loblolly Press, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse literary community. We recognize the importance of amplifying voices that have historically been underrepresented and marginalized in the publishing world. We proudly prioritize submissions from Queer and BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) writers.

We publish primarily full length poetry and short story collections (and the occasional novel), and we would love to read a sample of your work to see if we'd be a good fit. Please fill out our form and attach a sample of your work. For poetry, we'd love to see a 10-15 poems. For short fiction, 3-5 stories. For novels, the first 3-5 chapters.
